Mom to Mom

We are a Christian mother’s study group which provides opportunity for sharing parenting ideas, discussion of the delights & common challenges of raising children and education through Christian book study. Our purpose is to become a network of friends with one common goal – to be the mother God intended. We operate on a school-year term, taking a break during the summer (although many groups continue to meet socially during the summer).

Elisabeth’s Circle
Alternate Wednesdays
Dara Dooley and Jo Ellen Joslin

Elisabeth’s Circle currently has 13 members. Several of our members have been with Mom To Mom for 5 years. Our group leader is Dara Dooley and co-leader is Jo Ellen Joslin. We are a group with primarily older children, as only three members utilize the childcare services.

This semester we will be focusing on “Reinventing Your Life With Grace”, a video series with an accompanying workbook. Our schedule includes viewing videos, group discussion and a guest speaker. We are interested in focusing on women’s issues, personal growth, and becoming better mothers, wives and women. We hope that through a deeper relationship and understanding of God’s love, passion and grace we will achieve this goal.

We very much enjoy spending time with each other outside of our scheduled meetings. We enjoy having lunch after meetings and the occasional “girls evening out”. We are currently in the final planning stages of our fall retreat. We also hope to schedule a retreat in the spring.

Esther’s Circle
Alternate Thursdays
Beth Goldman and Mika Graham

It should be an exciting year for Esther's Circle! We are studying "Forgotten Truths" from the Women of Faith video series for the fall semester. We'll also be hearing from highly recommended guest speaker LaVerne Davis, and we'll be preparing and serving a meal at the Samaritan Inn homeless shelter in McKinney. Monthly Girls' Night Out dinners are planned, as well as Lunch With Kids outings. We're already planning a fun retreat in the spring! Our circle has 16 members, with 35 children. Most of our kids are in preschool or early elementary, with a few babies and a few kids in middle school. Helping each other grow and learn, supporting each other, and a great sense of humor are our Circle's strengths!

Mary’s Circle
Alternate Mondays
Amy Wilson and Michelle Entrop

Mary’s Circle shares faith and fellowship on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Most members have seen at least one or both of her children “graduate” from pre-school and CUMC childcare. Many of our children are now in elementary school and several members of our circle may “graduate” to a “Woman to Woman” group in the near future. Mary’s Circle’s bond is strong, and becomes stronger each time we welcome a new member.

We devote approximately half our meeting to a book study, currently “Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World”. Previous studies have included Beth Moore’s “A Heart Like His”. The balance of the meeting is spent in sharing our joys and concerns where we discuss the many ways that God is working in our lives.

Other circle activities include monthly socials- movies, restaurants or game nights- and an annual retreat to a bed-and-breakfast or hotel. Many group members have also maintained an annual tradition of attending the Women of Faith conferences together.

Hannah's Circle
Alternate Mondays from 9-11AM
Amy Smith & Amber Etchieson

Hannah's Circle is excited to begin our second year together, adding several new members. Our children are mostly toddlers and infants. The primary goal of our group is to be a respite for each other. We spend a generous portion of the meeting sharing "highs and lows", offering support and encouragement for each other, followed by our book study. This fall we are readng Love and Logic Magic For Early Childhood by Jim Fay and Charles Fay, and incorporating Christian values into the discussion. We plan a variety of social activities for couples, moms, and moms and kids, and are planning a retreat. The mood of our gatherings is relaxed with plenty of time for chatting, laughing and having fun.

Rachel’s Circle
Alternate Wednesdays from 7-9 pm
Lori Downing & Angie Harris

Rachel’s circle is the only evening circle. This year, we have 15 moms total – 5 new moms have joined our circle!! We are very excited to have so many returning and so many new faces to add to our group! Our children range from infant to elementary-age. Most of the moms in our group are working outside the home, either full or part-time. This year we are reading Parenting with Love and Logic. This past summer we had a girl’s night out to dinner and we just kicked off the new semester with a bunco night and had a lot of fun! This year we are planning on more fun, social events for the moms, the moms and kids and couples in addition to having some guest speakers. A few of the upcoming events we will have are: dinner out, a Halloween social with our families, our Christmas Brunch and ornament exchange, and a hopefully a fall or spring retreat to a Granbury Bed & Breakfast. We like to share our views on parenting, our joys and our sorrows, and be there to support one another through it all, and have a GREAT time!

Ruth’s Circle
Alternate Mondays
Tiffany Woodrick and Ruthie Davis

Ruth’s Circle is a group of fun, laid-back women who make up a fabulous support group! We generally spend about half our meetings doing “Joys & Concerns”, proving support & advice for each other. We have kids ranging from newborn to early middle school-aged. We are currently reading Paula Rinehart’s Strong Women Soft Hearts and trying to learn of our true passions! Our guest speakers this fall will include LaVerne Davis and Marilyn Smith, who will help us to find our Spritual Gifts. In October, we will be going on our fall retreat at a member’s lakehouse in Oklahoma. We also have a monthly Ladies’ Night Out where we try out different restaurants in the area (usually Mexican or Italian, but we sometimes get creative!). For missions, we will spend one meeting in the Missions room filling UMCOR buckets and are exploring other options for giving back to others. Whether meeting in our circle, at LNO or at various CUMC functions, we always have a great time together!

Rebekah’s Circle
Alternate Wednesdays from 9-11 am
Angela Desai & Jamie Peden

Rebekah’s Circle was formed 7 years ago, as more circles were opening up to meet demand. Six of our members agreed to form the new group, and four of those original members remain today. We have a wide age group with the oldest member at a very young 45 and the youngest member at 30. We have children ranging from 10 years of age to infants. Most of our members have at least two children. We are a group of dynamic women who not only give their time and energy to the church, but are also volunteers in the schools and community as well as entrepreneurs and businesswomen.

Rebekah’s Circle is off to a great start this year with our new book, “Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World.” We hope it helps us to put our inner-Martha’s in time-out so we can sit at the feet of the Lord like Mary more often. We are very happy to be back to our regular meetings after the summer break and look forward to the coming year.

We cherish our time together as a group. It is “cathartic”, “supportive”, “needed” and just a great way to spend two hours. We stand together in prayer, supporting each other through job loss, family loss, cancer, accidents and the trials and tribulations of daily life.

Sarah’s Circle
Alternate Tuesdays from 9:15-11:15 am
Tracy Brown & Rhonda Connolly

This year Sarah's Circle is enjoying a Beth Moore study titled "Believing God". We have embraced delving into God's word and growing closer as sisters in Christ.

We have a Girls Night Out scheduled monthly by a member of our group, and we all look forward to them. We are also attending a Sandy Patti/Chonda Pierce concert in November, followed by a weekend retreat. We will be planning a Spring Retreat soon. We love our retreats!!

Sarah's Circle has 18 wonderful moms with children ranging from newborn to age 10. We are busy ladies but we love being together on Tuesday mornings to give and receive: encouragement, support, love, prayers and hugs.

Martha’s Circle
Alternate Thursdays from 9:30-11:30 am
Arwen McMakin & Stephanie Weeks

Eve’s Circle
Alternate Tuesdays from 9:00-11:00 am
